Tips

Conditions to be followed while preparing the product:

Files.
If possible, the files should be sent as composite PDF. The files should meet the PDF/X-1a requirements meaning that they should be CMYK or CMYK and spot composite PDF files. It is recommended that preflight check is made to the file. All the fonts in the PDF file need to be embedded or outlined. A composite print file needs to be made before distilling a PDF.

For a smooth operation we recommend you use the following software: Macromedia FreeHand, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Corel Draw.

Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point) software is not suitable for producing printing files.

If the files are made with Mac software we ask you to notify us beforehand.

Bleed. In order to finish the color surfaces evenly with the paper edge and to avoid any visible white margins, it is necessary to add extra cutting edge, so-called bleed. 3-5 mm of extra cutting edge should be added equally to each side of the publication.

Publication’s cutting format (clean format) should be situated in the centre of the PDF page. The size of the page should be the cutting format + bleed, desirably without cutting markings.

Files should be named simply and clearly and the name should refer to the job and client. Bleed (Extra cutting edge) and the publication’s clean format have to be in the name of the file.

Page order. We ask you not to mix up the page order and not to piece together random pages. Exceptions may be brochure covers .

Pictures. To get the best quality we recommend you use pictures with 300 dpi resolution.

Black. To get a good black surface in CMYK we strongly recommend you use following scheme: C 80%, M 40%, Y 40%, K 100%.

Overprint. While working with clients’ files we do not change the colors overprint, except for the compulsory overprint during the RIP-process on 100% black surface . You should not use overprint for a white text or figures on varicolored surface

If the publication will be bound, the design should also consider the method of binding.

Adhesive binding. In case of adhesive binding the easiest and unproblematic solution is to make sure that there are no pictures or design elements on the inner margin of the page. In case you still want pictures or design elements running from one page to another, it is necessary that 5 mm of the picture is repeated on the next page (5mm of the picture on the left page is repeated on the right-hand page)

When designing brochures that will be saddle stitched afterwards, it is necessary to consider the creeping: the inner sheets are a few mm narrower. If there are no pictures extending over pages, we can compensate for the pages by moving them more inwards, but the alternative is to design it with the consideration of a few mm loss of the sheet’s outer edge.

Die cutting blueprint. In PDF the blueprint has to be marked in a spot color. While designing such publications the 5 mm bleed needs to be considered. The file of the die cut publication has to be presented in three parts:

1. Die cutting blueprint separately with the cutting line marked in red, the creasing line in green and
    perforating line in yellow color.
2. Die cutting blueprint is placed on the image.
3. The design of the publication without the die cutting blueprint.

NB! The die cutting blueprint cannot be submitted as picture.

Model. To avoid any problems we ask you to send us a paper model of the publication. Please make sure that the model is made of the final version of the product.

Envelopes. While designing envelopes it is necessary to consider a 10 mm free space on the back side of the envelope for the grippers.

Hot foil stamping. Do not leave a hole under the foil image (there has to be a printed surface). Minimum width of the foil line or the line on the foil surface is 0,3 mm, we recommend 0,5 mm. The foil or stamping form has to be designed in vector graphics 100% black and the minimum width of the line has to be 0,3 mm.

Numbering. The height of the number is 5 mm, width (6 digits) with the asterisk 30 mm. If you want to place the numbers in a box or grid them with lines, we recommend you leave a few mm of free space to avoid defects which may occur due to waver of the number.

We will consider your special requirements if you have previously notified us of them.
